Carlene Carter Fan Club: Music

Emmylou Harris, "Quarter Moon In A Ten Cent Town" LP

("Easy From Now On")
Warner Bros. Records, 1978

Track #1 - "Easy From Now On," written by Susanna Clark, Carlene Routh.

This song opened Emmylou's classic 1978 album, which even got its title from one of the lines in the lyric. Later that same year the song closed Side One of Emmylou's first "Profile / The Best Of Emmylou Harris" collection, and since then no Emmylou retrospective has been complete without it. It ended the first disc of her 1996 box-set ("Portraits"), and the song often opened concerts Emmylou performed with symphonies.

"Easy from Now On" was also recorded by Suzy Bogguss, as the last track on her first self-released album ("Suzy") in 1981. Carlene herself recorded it for her 1990 "I Fell In Love" CD. Terri Clark included it on her "Fearless" CD in 2000. And in 2007 the song closes the second CD, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," by new country star Miranda Lambert.
